Location

Shanghai is among the global top 10 most dynamic cities and is the world’s largest international trade port city; and it will become the fourth largest city in terms of GDP globally in 2035.

As a core city of the Yangtze River Delta and an economic centre of China, Shanghai lies in the middle of the curved coastline from north to south in China, enjoying a superior geographical position. With the East China Sea to the east, Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province to the west, and the estuary of the Yangtze River to the north. 

According to 2021 China Sustainable Development Report, Shanghai ranks the second sustainable development city in China.



Weather

Shanghai belongs to the subtropical maritime monsoon climate, mild and humid, the average annual temperature is about 16℃. The average temperature in October is 15℃-23℃. It is dry season in October with less precipitation. 


Transportation


As one of the biggest transportation hubs in China and an important window opening to the outside world, its flights reach 47 countries and 297 cities in the world. 

There are three train stations in the city, of which Shanghai Station is the main station. More than 70 trains are going out to major and middle cities in China on daily basis. 

By December 2022, Shanghai Metro has more than 20 lines (including maglev lines) in operation, with more than 500 stations.



Science and Technology

Shanghai is also a centre of international economy, finance, trade, shipping, and science & technology innovation.

Shanghai will become a comprehensive opening centre for science and technology, boasting its world-class talents in making innovation technological elements and high-tech enterprises very soon.

By 2035, it will become a remarkable global city of innovation, humanity, and ecology and a socialist modernized international metropolis with global influence.
