How to submit

Submitting a draft paper


The organising committee encourages authors to submit draft papers focusing on real business case studies / scenarios, innovative tools and techniques and report on work completed or nearing final stages, or efforts that have concluded with an important outcome of interest.

Please do not submit any sales pitches as they will be rejected.

Œ Author will receive notification by email or phone regardless of acceptance or rejection of your abstract/ full paper. If no email or phone call is received after the author notification date, please check your junk email inbox or contact the IET to confirm the status of your paper. 

 Papers requested to be reworked should be submitted in the method mentioned in the notification email by this deadline, in order to be reconsidered for acceptance.

Ž Modifications to the paper (author/title/presentation type etc.) must be made through the paper review system by 23:59 of this date (Beijing time). Any modifications made beyond this date CANNOT be guaranteed to be shown on the final event programme.



The submission process 

Authors wishing to submit papers and present at MEA 2017 are required to submit a draft paper (maximum of eight pages) for consideration by the Conference’s Technical Programme Committee.

Successful authors of full papers will then be invited to attend and present their work at the MEA 2017 as a either a PowerPoint Presentation or Poster Display.


Writing a draft paper

  • Draft papers are required for all submissions. Draft papers must be submitted using the template form provided. Please ensure all text / diagrams fit within the template and use Times New Roman or Arial font, size 10
  • Draft papers must be submitted by Monday, 22 August 2017, if they are to be considered for the conference
  • The working language of the conference is English, which will be used for all printed material, presentations and discussion

    Before submission, make sure that the following material is ready:
    • Your draft paper title, all authors’ names, affiliations and a 35 word (approx) biography
    • Your prepared draft paper file of no more than eight A4 pages, using the draft paper template form provided, including title, names, affiliations and draft paper in word format (file size maximum 2MB)
    • Your preferred topic area is chosen from the conference technical scope

    Note: The technical programme committee reserves the right to change the authors' choice of topic area


    Submitting your draft paper

    If you are submitting more than one draft paper you can use the same email address and password for each draft paper.



    Step 1 – Register as a new user

    • Enter the online submission system 
    • Register as a new user 
    • Confirmation screen  


    Step 2 – Submit your abstract

    • Access online submission system 
    • Log-in using your username and password 
    • Click on the link > “Click here to make a new submission” 
    • Follow the on-screen instructions and complete all fields in the three step process 
    • After completing all the steps, you will be directed to a summary screen and sent a confirmation email containing your submission reference number which will need to be used in any correspondence with the organisers 
    • Done! 




    Personal data

    Personal data will be processed by the Institution and its associated organisations for the purpose of organising your attendance at this event. It may also be used for the promotion of other IET products and services and contacting you for market research purposes.

    By providing us with your postal address, email address and telephone number you agree that we may contact you by these methods.

    You can change this preference at any time by either contacting us by post, following the link on a received email.



    Accepted papers

    Each paper must have at least one author registered by Friday, 13 October 2017 to avoid the paper being withdrawn from the conference proceedings.

    Authors presenting two or more papers must pay the additional paper fee. The author must be present at the conference to present the submission either orally or by poster presentation.

    Each paper should be the authors’ original work and previously unpublished in the form submitted.

    You are reminded that the IET or other associated societies cannot meet any travelling or subsistence expenses for authors, either prior to or during the conference.
