On the eastern side of the Bund lies the
Huangpu River – the largest river flowing through downtown Shanghai, also known
as Shanghai's mother river.
To the river's west are 52 gothic and
baroque-style buildings that once housed old Shanghai's financial institutions
and trading companies.
With all its history and beauty, the
Bund is now acclaimed as an outdoor museum of international architecture.
In the morning, the Bund is filled with
early birds getting in their exercises. During the daytime, it is a bustling
attraction for both tourists and locals. In the evening, the buildings light up
along the Bund to resemble crystal palaces, giving its visitors unforgettable
scenery and endless photo opportunities.
