Licheng LIAcademician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Honorary Director of the Southern Power Grid Expert Committee

Speech title: Development and thinking of HVDC transmission.

Licheng Li, male, from Jianhu County, Jiangsu Province, an expert in power system, an academician of CAE Member, an honorary chairman of the expert committee of China Southern Power Grid Company Limited, and an honorary president of the School of Electric Power Engineering of South China University of Technology. He has been engaged in long-term research on power system technology and major energy and power engineering construction, making significant contributions to the development of power technology in China and the world. He won the Special Prize of State Science and Technology Progress Award as the first complete person. As the team leader, his research and development team for ultra-high voltage flexible DC transmission technology won the first National Outstanding Engineering Team Award. He has won the First Prize and Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prize, Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Award, and Guangdong Province Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award. In addition, he was awarded the title of National Outstanding Science and Technology Research Worker.

Speech title:  Innovation practice and development prospect of the UHV transmission technology

Dr. Shu Yinbiao, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, the 36th President of International Electrotechnical Commission. He was once Chairman of State Grid Corporation Company, and Chairman of China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. Academician Shu has long been engaged to energy development strategy research, power system operation and planning, Extra/Ultra High Voltage (E/UHV) transmission project construction and key technology research and development. The 1000 kV UHV AC project participated in the construction has created a world record for the world's AC transmission voltage level and transmission capacity, and 1000 kV has become the world's standard voltage. The ±1100kV UHV DC project is the most advanced DC transmission technology with the highest voltage level, the largest transmission capacity, the longest transmission distance and the most advanced technical level in the world. The successful independent research and development of UHV technology has become the key core technology to solve the problem of inverse distribution of energy resources and electricity load in China and the strategy of the "West-to-East Electricity Transmission Project". The research results won two special prizes and one first prize of National Science and Technology Progress, ,and 2018 Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award.


Dr. Dushan BoroyevichMember of the National Academy of Engineering, University Distinguished Professor

Speech title: Future Electronic Power Systems for Collection, Transmission and Distribution of Electrical Energy

Prof. Boroyevich received his Dipl. Ing. degree from the University of Belgrade in 1976 and his M.S. degree from the University of Novi Sad in 1982, in what then used to be Yugoslavia.  He received his Ph.D. degree in 1986 from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), Blacksburg, USA. In 1990 he joined the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech where he is now University Distinguished Professor and Associate Vice President for Research and Innovation in Energy Systems, as well as the Deputy Director of CPES. He was the president of IEEE Power Electronics Society for 2011-12. He led numerous research projects in the areas of multi-phase power conversion, electronic power distribution systems, modeling and control, and multi-disciplinary design optimization. Dushan was a mentor for almost 50 Ph.D. dissertations and 50 M.S. theses.

Dr. Boroyevich is an IEEE Life Fellow and an Honorary Professor at Tsinghua University. He was elected to the U.S. National Academy of Engineering in 2014 for advancements in the control, modeling, and design of electronic power conversion for electric energy and transportation.

 

 

Dr. Sanjib Kumar PandaDirector of the Power & Energy Research Area National University of Singapore, IEEE Fellow

Speech title: Floating Living Laboratory and Energy Transition in Singapore

Sanjib Kumar Panda, IEEE fellow, an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he serves as the Director of the Power & Energy Research Area. He is an adjunct researcher with the Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS), NUS and also the NUS representative for the National Research Foundation (NRF) Smart Grid and Power Electronics Consortium (SPECS) Singapore. His current research focuses on the development of novel computational intelligence-based models and methodologies to aid the integration of the new Smart Grid technologies into the existing infrastructure so that power grid can effectively utilize pervasive renewable energy generation and demand-side management programs, while accommodating stochastic load demand. He has served in various capacities as Chapter Officer in the IEEE Singapore Section Joint Power Electronics and Industry Applications Society Chapter and also as Chair of the IEEE Singapore Section. He was awarded the Best Volunteer Award by the IEEE Singapore Section in 2006 and IEEE R-10 Best Volunteer Award in 2014. Presently, he is serving as the R-10 Membership and Chapter Development Chair for the IEEE Power Electronics Society.

 

Professor Jinliang HE, Tsinghua University

Speech title: Intelligent transmission-line and data-driven fault monitoring methods

Dr. He received the Ph.D. degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1994. He was promoted to Professor in Tsinghua University in 2001. From April 1997 to April 1998, he was a Visiting Scientist in Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute in Changwon, Korea; from Jan. 2014 to Jan. 2015, he was a visiting professor in Department of Electrical Engineering, Stanford University. Now he is the Chair of High Voltage Engineering Research Institute in Tsinghua University. His research interest covers advanced power transmission technology, lightning protection technology, metal-oxide surge arresters, smart sensors and big data, and smart nanodielectric materials.

He was selected as an IEEE Fellow in 2007; he is the recipient of the IEEE Technical Achievement Award in 2010, the Hoshino Prize (6th session) of the Institute of Electrical Installation Engineers of Japan in 2013, and 2018 IEEE Herman Halperin Electric Transmission and Distribution Award. He is the recipients of two Chinese National Awards for Scientific and Technological Progress in 2015 and 2018, a Chinese National Invention Award in 2005, and 19 Provincial Science and Technology Awards. He was selected as a foreign academician of the Italian Bologna Academy of Sciences in 2022.

He is the recipient of more than 100 invention patents, and published 9 academic monographs, and 2 textbooks. He also has co-authored more than 400 papers in peer review international archival journals. He is the founding editor-in-chief of iEnergy, associate Editor-in-chief of CSEE Journal of Power Electrical and Energy Engineering, and High Voltage.

 

 

Dr. Drazen Dujic, Head of the Power Electronics Laboratory EPFL

Speech title:  Solid State Resonant Conversion for MVDC Applications

Drazen Dujic is an Associate Professor and Head of the Power Electronics Laboratory at EPFL. He received the Dipl.Ing. and MSc degrees from the University of Novi Sad, Novi Sad, Serbia in 2002 and 2005, respectively, and the PhD degree from Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, UK in 2008. From 2003 to 2006, he was a Research Assistant with the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad. From 2006 to 2009, he was a Research Associate with Liverpool John Moores University. After that, he moved to industry and joined ABB Switzerland Ltd, where from 2009 to 2013, he was a Scientist and then Principal Scientist with ABB Corporate Research Center in Baden-Dättwil, and from 2013 to 2014 he was R&D Platform Manager with ABB Medium Voltage Drives in Turgi. He has been with EPFL since 2014. His research interests include the areas of design and control of advanced high-power electronic systems and high-performance drives, predominantly for medium voltage applications related to electrical energy generation, conversion, and storage. In 2018 he received the EPE Outstanding Service Award and in 2014, the Isao Takahashi Power Electronics Award for Outstanding Achievement in Power Electronics. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, and EPE Member, and serves as Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics.



Siquan HU, Deputy General Manager, XJ Electric Co., Ltd

Speech title: Key Technology and Application for Large-scale Renewable Energy DC Transmission

Hu Siquan, Deputy General Manager and Professor of Engineering of XJ Electric Co.. Expert with special government allowances from the State Council and academic and technical leader in Henan Province. Engaged in long-term work in HVDC classic and VSC technology and project management. Hosted or participated in the development and engineering application of more than 20 major scientific and technological projects, including the National Key R&D Program, Henan Province Major Special Projects, State Grid Science and Technology Projects, as well as more than 10 major HVDC equipment research and development projects, including UHVDC converter valves. He has been awarded more than 10 provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological awards, including the second prize of the State Technological Innovation Award, the first prize of the Henan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, and the first prize of the Beijing Science and Technology Award.
